FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A man convicted of killing a Kane County Sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to life in prison, with a chance at parole.

Scott Curley, 25, was sentenced Tuesday in Flagstaff, Ariz., to life in prison. The judge ruled that Curley could be eligible for parole in 25 years, the Kane County Dept. of Emergency Management reported.

Curley pleaded guilty to murder in the 2010 slaying of Kane County Sheriff’s deputy Brian Harris. The killing happened as Harris was investigating a burglary and was shot while tracking Curley in the deserts outside Kanab.

The slaying sparked a manhunt before Curley was finally apprehended near Fredonia, Ariz.
