SALT LAKE CITY – Jon Huntsman, Sr., appeared on Fox News Network’s Neil Cavuto on Thursday.

Huntsman, Sr., spoke of his son’s unsuccessful run for the presidential nomination and about the Romney campaign’s failure to address and attract a wide base of voters.

“I hope he does run again. That’ll be his decision, Neil, but he’s right. We did a very poor job of bringing in the Hispanic population, of addressing women, of addressing young people,” Huntsman said. “Jon Junior is a remarkable man. He’s been an ambassador three times, he’s been a governor twice, he speaks to these crowds, he speaks to the students, he speaks to the Hispanics.”

He also responded to Mitt Romney’s comment that Obama won the election by giving gifts to voter groups.

“Mitt needs to go hide for about two or three months. He already wiped out the 47 percent. Now he’s made this other statement. He needs to get off the stage and let the Republican Party rebuild itself; it has the potential. We’ve done it before. They are great people, they just need to reach out,” he said.

Huntsman also said that he hopes Republicans will look more widely at polling data in the future so they have a better understanding of possible election outcomes.
