Provo City is calling for volunteers to help clean up tree debris on private property from last week’s snowstorm, and United Way of Utah County is ready to match volunteers with those in need.

Those who need help disposing of broken limbs and branches, and those who want to volunteer, can call 211 for more information.

The city’s Public Works Department will also place dumpsters in several locations around Provo tomorrow. Residents can use them to dispose of yard waste for free over the next week. The locations will be listed tomorrow on the city website, Provo.org.

“Both city crews and property owners are facing major cleanup work from last week’s storm,” states Provo City spokesperson Helen Anderson. “The city typically picks up debris on public property, such as power lines and city streets, and property owners are responsible for what’s on their property. But we know some will need help, and our area has the highest rate of volunteerism in the country. This would make an excellent family, youth, or student service project.”

Those who want to report debris on public property can call Provo City’s Customer Service Division at 801-852-6000 or 311. Those who need help with debris on their own property, or who want to volunteer, can call United Way of Utah County at 211.
