NEW HAVEN, Conn. — After Hurricane Sandy left millions of people without power, food, or drinking water, donation drives were held to help those affected by the damage.

Drop-off point for coats, canned goods, and toiletries were created in New Haven, Conn. for those who wanted to donate to the cause. (See photos by scrolling down)

Hundreds of cars lined up in front of the checkpoint, waiting to drop off their goods.

One woman and her canine companion in particular caught the attention of hundreds of donors.

A partially blind woman being led by her guide dog made her way through the cars to the donation point. With a bag of goods between her feet, she could not get out of her chair to donate her goods because of medical conditions.

The golden retriever guide carried her own bag, dropping the bag at the feet of a volunteer upon command.

The unnamed woman reached in her pocket, gave a treat to her guide dog, and left without another word.
