WEST JORDAN, Utah - A woman is recovering in the hospital after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband during a fight.

Police say the fight between the husband and wife started around 2 a.m. Sunday at a home on 9098 South Granada Hills Drive (4730 West) in West Jordan.

They say the husband allegedly chased the wife down the stairs of their home, stabbing her several times with a kitchen knife.

She was taken to the hospital with superficial defense wounds.

"The husband then left the residence in his own vehicle, did cause some property damage just north of here, abandoned the vehicle and he was later located and taken into custody," said Officer Craig Carroll of the West Jordan Police Department.

The man was booked into jail on several charges including domestic violence in the presence of children.

Police say the couple's three young children were in the home at the time of the incident. They are now being taken care of by an older sibling.

Officials are still investigating but they say they believe alcohol was involved.
