WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - West Valley City's Parks and Recreation Dept., with the help of two Eagle Scouts and volunteers from the neighborhood, planted new trees along the Sugar Plum trail system.

Austin and Hayden Wright decided to help beautify West Valley City and participate in Salt Lake County's One Million Trees project as part of their Eagle Scout project.

"I just figured it's a good project to do because it helps us do service, but it helps the environment and helps us breathe better," Austin said.

"I think that it's good for us all to give back to our communities because we take from them, live in them, some of us litter in them, but if we give back we make sure they're what we want them to be," Hayden said.

West Valley City organizers say the One Million Trees project is a county-wide collaboration between city officials and residents to plant more trees and restore trees that have already been planted.
