KEARNS, Utah - Healthcare groups across the state have joined together to rehabilitate homes to make them more safe, clean and efficient.
The Green and Healthy Homes Initiative's "Idea House" program has transformed an old vacant home in Kearns into a clean, energy efficient and affordable home.
The home is currently up for sale with a target buyer of a low-income family with health requirements.
"i have allergies and then asthma as well and we've struggled in different places that we've been in just having problems with that," said first-time home buyer Maddie Herboldsheimer.
The first-of-its-kind project also focuses on ways to reduce dust and allergens in the home, plus other energy-efficient additions like motion-sensor lights in bathrooms and outside to keep the house safe.
