UTAH COUNTY, Utah – The Utah County Health Dept. is warning residents that the West Nile Virus has been detected in Utah County mosquitoes.

Utah is one of few states that hasn’t seen an increased number of West Nile Virus cases reported this year, but that doesn’t decrease the risk, especially with the discovery of the virus. So far one person has died from West Nile Virus in Utah this year.

Experts say it’s very important to watch out for symptoms. Flu-like symptoms, including fever, rash, muscle aches or fatigue, are early signs of West Nile Virus. More severe symptoms are a very severe headache or stiff neck.
