SALT LAKE CITY — The stadium at East High had to be evacuated in the middle of a football game after a small electrical fire sparked Friday night.

Authorities say the fire started in an equipment room and was quickly contained inside the stadium located a block east of the school at 800 East and 1400 South (Sunnyside Ave.).

But to make sure the fire was fully extinguished, Salt Lake City Fire said the electricity to the school had to be shut off. As a precaution everyone in the stadium was evacuated as of 9 p.m.

School authorities say the game will resume Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
