SPANISH FORK CANYON, Utah - A collision along Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon killed a 64-year-old woman and injured several people Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at 2:42 p.m. near mile post 193, just east of U.S. 89. Utah Highway Patrol troopers say one vehicle heading eastbound crossed into the opposite lane striking another vehicle.

UHP says Deanne Rogers of Idaho was killed after being ejected from the vehicle.

Troopers say the driver that crossed his vehicle into the other lane, 40-year-old Thomas Apodaca from New Mexico, told them he fell asleep at the wheel.

A 10-year-old boy suffered serious injuries. The five others involved had only minor injuries. All victims were wearing seat belts.

As a result of the crash, a small brush fire was started. It was quickly contained.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 6 were closed as a result of the crash.
