SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s Hogle Zoo had to put down one of its camels on Friday.

Zoo officials say Gobi, a 17-year-old male Bactrian camel, had aggressive arthritis. Staff tried a number of treatments to help Gobi but were unsuccessful.

Mabel, who had been with Gobi with ten years, will be sent to the San Diego Zoo so she can make new friends.
