SALT LAKE CITY – Attempted murder charges have been filed against the man accused of attacking attorney Steven Killpack.

The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office also filed charges of aggravated burglary and two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon against Matthew Christopher Wall.

Police say Wall stabbed Killpack on July 5 after Killpack caught him burglarizing his home.

“He sort of surprised this person who was in the process of removing computers and pulling the computers out. He was able to talk with the person and said how did you get in here,” said Sim Gill, Salt Lake County District Attorney.

63-year-old Killpack went to a neighbor’s house to get help after being stabbed. He is now in stable condition.

Wall could face up to life in prison if convicted.
