Man shot during argument in Box Elder County

PARK VALLEY, Box Elder County, Utah – A man was shot in the stomach during an altercation in Dove Creek Estates, located about 20 miles west of Park Valley, on Thursday night.

Box Elder County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Kevin Potter said in a release on Thursday that at around 8:40 p.m, a 61-year-old Salt Lake City resident called 911 to report that he had just shot a man who was threatening him with a gun near 68200 West 15722 North, near Park Valley, a small town just south of the Utah-Idaho border.

The victim, a 41-year-old Ogden man, was shot in the stomach with a handgun. The victim’s wife, who was present at the time of the shooting, drove him away from the residence and called for medical assistance. He was taken via AirMed to a Salt Lake County hospital.

The shooting occurred at the suspect’s residence. Both victim and suspect were visiting property they own in Dove Creek Estates.

The suspect is cooperating with the investigation, which remains ongoing.

The identities of the victim and suspect have not yet been released.
