MURRAY, Utah – Firefighters are working to extinguish a brush fire that sparked in Murray early Saturday morning.

The fire started near northbound I-215 just before the Redwood Road exit at around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the 15-acre fire in about an hour, but as they were mopping up the fire, winds picked up and reignited the blaze.

The reignited fire charred another 2 acres, bringing the total size to 17 acres. Crews estimate that the fire is about 90 percent contained Saturday afternoon.

There were no homes damaged, but some vinyl fencing melted.

The cause is under investigation.
