PROVO -- Frontrunner trains are coming.

So is rapid bus transit and an intermodal hub, similar to what is in Salt Lake City. With that will come growth.

How Provo handles that growth is the focus of a community forum here, discussing development plans and growth by the year 2040.

"There's some pretty significant regional infrastructure that's coming in that we think is going to catalyze economic development and building and investment in the downtown area," said Gabe Epperson, the planning director for Envision Utah.

Envision Utah, a private/public partnership focused on development and growth planning, predicts upwards of 200,000 new households in Utah County over the next 30 years.

"For the four counties (Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah) we're looking at an additional million and a half residents over a 30 year period," Epperson said.

Residents looked at artist renderings, and took a survey to give their input. While some people lamented what an increase in transportation options would bring, others felt the proposed ideas for growth were good.

"The area definitely needs some improvement and it could be a big benefit to the city as it continues to grow and people come in from the outside to go to conventions or whatever," said Lynda Golding.
