Nearly 100 students from across Utah tested their knowledge of geography Friday for a shot at $20,000.

Kids from grades 4 to 8 went head-to-head in the state finals of the National Geographic Bee until one student emerged as the representative for Utah.

“They designed the geography bee around grades four through eight to inspire kids and teachers to get kids involved with geography and learning more about it,” Sheila Powell, National Geographic Bee State Coordinator.

Anthony Cheng, an eighth grader at Midvale Middle School, won the competition. This is the third year in a row Cheng has taken the title.
