The annual "Scouting for Food" drive kicked off on Wednesday for the 26th year with a big celebration at the state capitol.

Every year, the Boy Scouts leave a bag on the front porches for people to donate food.

On Saturday, March 24, they'll come back and collect the non-perishable food items put in the bad and left on the porch.

This year about 100 airmen and soldiers from the Utah National Guard will help take the food collected to the Utah Food Bank.

"What motivates me to do something like this is seeing people just on the side of the street in my own city, in my own community, and those people need help," said Kalob Valle, Eagle, Boy Scouts of America.

Scouts said this year's goal of two million pounds of food will be difficult, but it is very possible.
