A former South Jordan fire captain was sentenced Friday.

Michael Farnsworth pleaded guilty to lewdness with a child in December 2011.  He was sentenced to 356 days in jail, but that is suspend if Farnsworth completes 36 months on probation and gives 150 hours community service. He must also complete counseling, a mental health and pyscho-sexual evaluation among other requirements, said Nancy Volmer in the administrative office of the courts.

Farnsworth was originally charged with two counts of possessing child pornography. He contends the images were accidentally downloaded while searching for adult pornography.
