Salt Lake City police have convinced a man who had barricaded himself inside a Salt Lake City Rite Aid to surrender Wednesday afternoon.

Salt Lake City police arrived on scene of a Rite Aid in Salt Lake City at around 2:30 p.m. They say a man had barricaded himself inside the store and was making threats.

The store was been evacuated and a SWAT team arrived on scene at the store, located at 900 W North Temple in Salt Lake City.

Negotiators were able to convince the 48-year-old suspect, who had barricaded himself near the store’s pharmacy, to surrender. Salt Lake City police say the man had a container of gasoline.

The suspect was loaded onto a stretcher and will undergo a mental health evaluation.
